Women Empowerment: Changing Lives, One Woman at a Time

Introduction Empowered women empower communities. Yet, many women in India face systemic discrimination and lack opportunities. At Sarala Foundation, we focus on enabling women to realize their full potential through education, skill-building, and leadership.

The Need for Empowerment

  • Low Female Workforce Participation: Only 25% of Indian women are formally employed.
  • Gender-based Violence: High rates of domestic and workplace violence.
  • Unequal Access to Resources: Land, education, and finance are largely male-dominated.

What We Do

  • Self-Help Groups (SHGs): Women save, lend, and invest together.
  • Vocational Training: Tailoring, handicrafts, digital literacy.
  • Leadership Workshops: Building confidence and public speaking skills.
  • Legal Awareness: Know-your-rights campaigns and access to legal aid.
  • Health & Nutrition Support: Focus on anemia, maternal health, and hygiene.

Impact So Far

  • 800 SHGs across 5 states.
  • Over 3,000 women financially independent.
  • Rise in girls’ school enrollment and community leadership.

Stories of Change Radha, once a domestic worker, now runs her own tailoring business and employs two other women. She also leads her village SHG and helps others start ventures.

Our Vision for the Future We aim to reach 1 million women by 2030, with scalable, tech-driven platforms for skill development and enterprise support.
