Why Disaster Response?

Natural disasters—whether floods, droughts, cyclones, or pandemics—hit the most vulnerable communities the hardest. In rural and tribal areas, such events often lead to loss of lives, livelihoods, homes, and access to basic services. At Sarala Foundation, we recognize the urgent need for timely and effective disaster response. Our goal is to provide immediate relief and support long-term recovery, ensuring affected families regain stability and dignity.

Make a difference

What We Do

When disasters strike, Sarala Foundation is on the ground—delivering emergency aid, food kits, clean water, medical support, and shelter materials to affected communities. Beyond immediate relief, we focus on helping families rebuild their lives through livelihood support, mental health counseling, and education continuity for children. We also raise awareness and build community preparedness to reduce future risks.

Our Interventions

Our disaster interventions are designed to be fast, compassionate, and inclusive. We collaborate with local authorities and volunteers to distribute relief materials efficiently. After the initial phase, we conduct needs assessments and offer recovery support such as repairing homes, restoring livelihoods, and providing psycho-social care. We also conduct disaster preparedness training to build community resilience and promote early warning systems.

Impact

Through our disaster response efforts, we have supported hundreds of families in times of crisis—from distributing essentials during the COVID-19 pandemic to helping communities recover after floods and cyclones. Our long-term rehabilitation support has helped families restart livelihoods, rebuild homes, and return to a sense of normalcy with hope and dignity.

Stories of Change

After severe flooding destroyed homes in a coastal village, our team provided immediate relief kits and later helped families rebuild using climate-resilient materials. Today, the community is better prepared for future disasters.

Hope After the Storm

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we reached remote communities with ration kits, hygiene materials, and awareness sessions. Many families who had lost jobs and income were able to survive the crisis with our support and counseling.
